Located in Hamilton, MT, the Daly Mansion was built by Marcus Daly, an Irish immigrant who founded the copper-based Anaconda Mining Company. The copper king’s historic estate was originally a summer home for his family, and it was constructed in the late 1880’s. The mansion and the accompanying estate were part of Daly’s 22,000 acre Bitterroot Stock Farm. The Mansion contains 24 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and 7 fireplaces. The grounds include a wide-variety of trees, a tennis court, swimming pool, children’s playhouse, greenhouse, laundry building and boathouse. This National Historic site is owned by the State of Montana and is managed by the Daly Mansion Preservation Trust. Offered are conventional tours and other activities, such as family picnics, weddings, class reunions, concerts, and a special Christmas Weekend. Tour hours are 11 am to 4 pm.
