Description:
Garnet Ghost Town located 40 miles east of Missoula, was once a thriving mining gown that died out following a catastrophic fire and two world wars. Once home to 1000 residents, 31 businesses, and 13 saloons, today's Garnet is a ghost town tourist attraction. In summer you can hike in (or drive), and in winter you can ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile to this historic site. The Ghost Town and its two cabins are a cooperative venture between the BLM and the Garnet Preservation Association. Complete with beds, propane stove, and woodburning heater stove, the two cabins are cozy rustic overnight accomodations. The Dahl cabin, once a speak-easy, sleeps up to ten; and the McDonald cabin sleeps four. Both are available at modest cost. Groups are welcome with advance notice.
